It's that time again, time to clean out the old brain of those thoughts that as one don't make a post but put them together......
Hubby and I are in the process of getting new windows and doors for our home. Last winter was awful with ice forming on the INSIDE of my bay window. We knew we needed to do something and now we are. BUT I never knew of how many options were out there for windows! OH and for the doors, lets just say I can see many a marriages breaking up because of all the options! Thank goodness hubby and I are good at the art of compromise. Well that and hubby knowing that 'if the wife isn't happy, no one is happy' motto.
With the outside 'remodeling' we've decided to change the color blue on the house. After 10+ years of the front door and shutters being blue, hubby told me he never liked it. REALLY? Don't ya think you should have said something a few years ago? But maybe it's better that he didn't because I still like my blue. We've decided to paint the doors and shutters green. It's been fun (not) picking which shade of green we can both agree upon....and we still have door hardware to shop for along with deciding which of 10 different finishes we are going to go with........
Today is Columbus Day and I have the day off. In fact I had a four day weekend. I wish I could say that I spent it doing fun stuff but instead I've been doing those things that I've been putting off. Namely, cleaning house, grocery shopping, and laundry. Even with hubby doing laundry every day, stuff still stacks up. I've decided that laundry is the one chore that never gets finish. Seriously, I can gather everything and anything that I think is dirty and finish that last load, only to see that there is more waiting for me. Another reason we didn't go anywhere is my allergies are kicking my ass. We had plan to do a day trip or two but decided it wasn't worth it if I was feeling miserable. I think it's crap that my time off and I'm sick enough I don't want to leave the house but not sick enough that I still ended up cleaning the house. Though today we are planning to go the local mall. I hate going to the mall but at least it will get me out of the house for awhile. Maybe I'll get hubby to go to the antique mall instead. I'm just not sure how long I'll want to be gone from my comfy couch......

Take a Dayquil tablet and go have fun. They work amazingly well for a few hours. Sadly they mess with my thryoid medication but I love'em.
ReplyDeleteYou are braver than me to head to the mall with schools and businesses closed. It will be busy. Enjoy!!
Peg, that's my problem. All the medicines that are meant for colds/sinus, hates my meds that I am on for high blood pressure :o(
DeleteAgree about the mall, but I have a coupon for Yankee Candle that expires soon and I want to use it ;o)
Unless you do laundry naked, there's never a moment it can be completely caught up!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the mall! (Yikes!)
I so agree Cora about the laundry!
DeleteThe mall wasn't that bad but of course we went before lunch time ;o)
Poor Bonnie! allergies - no fun! no fun!
ReplyDelete-chuckle- what a wise hubby you have (or he's learnt the hard way with that motto ;)
Oh gosh house make-overs and paint selections. Have to say since being on my own I've never undertaken a make-over as smoothly as I did this time! Mm hadn't thought about that until your post....
Long ago I came to the conclusion that 'laundry' breeds in secret....
Have a great week Bonnie, and pooh to allergies!
Ah Rose, my hubby will tell you that the best advice he EVER got from his dad was to agree with me on ALL decorating decisions. I had to remind him that even though it's great for me, it's better if he likes it.
DeleteAnd yes, laundry does bred all by itself!
......unless he's colour-blind, then he gets no say at all.
DeleteBoth my son-in-laws happen to be colour-blind and WOW you should have seen some of the choices they came up with when asked. Very, very sad........ :)
We desperately need windows and new doors. You are a lucky lady. Den said last year that he thinks cardboard might be a step up from our windows. I really don't want to have to pay for new windows while the kids are in school and the mortgage isn't paid off but I think it may happen within the next few years.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your allergies, I feel your pain.
Sonya, you just described my windows! Seriously there was ice on the INSIDE of the bay window and in my son's room, you could see the wind moving the curtains even though it was closed! Yes, it's pass time to replace.
DeleteHmmmm....you're strangely familiar to me. :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully not THAT familiar since this is my new 'secret' identity ;o)
DeleteI love malls. Well I love to shop. Can we see a picture after the green doors and windows come in. I am boring I normally always go with either white or natural wood color
ReplyDeletewww.thoughsofpaps.com
PAPS, of course I'll post pictures but it will be awhile. The guy we ordered them through said it will take at least two weeks to make them (yes, it's custom windows).
DeleteI did not get Columbus day off. Apparently Columbus is no friend of medical laboratories.... You lucky dog.
ReplyDeleteVal I got it off not because it's a holiday but because it's part of our 'fall break.' Though I would have loved to have a whole week off for it ;o)
DeleteI have never been able to work out how washing manages to grow so fast. Turn your back and it has doubled in size.
ReplyDeleteYes, we have too many choices these days. Mind you some people could quarrel all day about white or cream, so in the end it does come down to compromise.
OH Jenny you so get the part of about laundry and compromising ;o)
DeleteYou get a fall break?!
ReplyDeleteWe replaced our upstairs windows a couple years ago, but we still haven't gotten around to doing the downstairs. The breeze blowing next to hubby's side of the bed (with windows closed!) made the upstairs a priority. That's some expensive stuff right there, so we're waiting on the rest!
