- The show 'Love it or List it' uses the same formula for all it's shows. No matter how much money the homeowners give the designer, it's never enough to get everything done, the house that the real estate agent finds is either over their budget or not in the neighborhood they want, and more times than not, the homeowners decide to stay.
- 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' has the most ( insert any word of your choice) on it. Sadly, I watched it last night and was totally grossed out by it. It wasn't them butchering their own pig, nor was it the mother using her hands to stir her pig and beans combination, or the sister eating the pizza after it was in her sister's mouth. Nope the grossest thing was at the end when the dad was feeding the mom a Ho Ho and she asked why he hands were dirty. Never mind he said it was from working in the yard, it was the fact that she was eating it from his hands KNOWING that his hands were dirty.
- The show 'Yo Gabba Gabba' has a performer that was a member of DEVO. Rumor has it that he writes and produces the show. Which explains why many of the songs on that show sound like a remix of a DEVO song.
- Steve from 'Blue's Clues' was in a punk band before he started working for 'Blue's Clues.' He audition with long hair and an ear ring. Just goes to show one can clean up nicely. Rumors of him having tattoos and being dead are just that, rumors. So is the one about Mr Rodgers from 'Mr Rodgers' Neighborhood' always wore long sleeves to cover his Navy Seal Tattoos.
- MANY of the cartoons on Nick Jr that are meant for preschool children have no to limited adults on them and rarely are the adults parents. Cases in point: Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, Max and Ruby. However the shows on PBS KIDS Sprout does have a parental character on most of their shows. BUT just like 'Love it List it' many of these kids shows use the same formula to develop their shows.
- Bubble Guppies takes place in water, they swim. BUT they get stuck in trees, sprayed with water, and have a fear of falling down into whatever pit or canyon or whatever. If you can swim, and you live in the water, wouldn't all this be unfounded?
- If you watch enough Nick Jr and PBS Sprout you WILL be singing and/or humming the songs from those shows. Someone will make a comment, this will jiggle your memory to an episode, and before long one of the songs will be stuck in your head.
- All the above bits of wisdom were discovered while saying to hubby, "There's not a damn thing on tv any more."
- The quickest two hours of the day are the ones when the granddaughter takes her nap.
- The slowest two hours of the day are when she wants to go outside and play, in the heat and humidity.
- When going out to restaurants, one of the first finger foods we offer babies are french fries but once they are eating table foods, we get upset because all they want to eat are french fries.
- Want to go to the zoo when it's not crowded? Go on rainy days or REALLY hot days. While at the zoo, even though the building says insect house, it will have spiders in it, HUGE ones at that.
How about you, learned any interesting or fun things lately?

-loud chuckle- I can relate to, and appreciate the last 4 points!
ReplyDeleteHave a great up and coming weekend Bonnie!
Thanks Rose! I know anyone who is a grandparent understood them ;o)
DeleteYou've been watching kid shows a LOT! :) When my girls were into Blues Clues... and they WERE! my hubs made a comment that Steve REALLY needed a girl friend...
ReplyDeleteLucky for me, Blues Clues came out when my sons were PASS that stage. BUT the granddaughter likes it hence I watch along with WAY TOO MANY other children's shows......
DeleteOh btw: My youngest loves the Love it or List it show! It drives my husband nuts...
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot about childrens' programing while reading this blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for Love it Or List It....it is always the last house that is perfect for them too. Never the 2nd but they want to see more to be sure. nope, always the 3rd. They always get pissed at the realtor and the designer. Like 60,000 can get them a new kitchen, extra bedroom and bath. c'mon. BUT I still watch it. :-) So now you have learned that I am an idiot.
Oh Peg, you're not an idiot because I still watch it too! I tease my hubby because he's the one who turns to it ALL.THE.TIME!!!!!! I've told him this show could become a great drinking game ;o)
DeleteYou are a genius! I never thought about the french fry thing. You need to write a book! Mama's musings, maybe?
