Hubby, two of the sons, a girlfriend of a son, and I went to more distilleries on the bourbon trail Saturday. We made it to three distilleries with the last one being a ghost tour I told you about here. I won't bore you with all the fun we had, it really was a lot of fun, but mainly I was bad about getting the camera out to take pictures. I did take this one at the first place:
Mainly because I love the quotes from a few famous Americans:Beer? You might be wondering since that is made at a brewery not a distillery. The Lexington Distillery is also a brewery. They store their beer in used bourbon barrels making for a yummy beer. Best part of their tour is one of the best tasting events that I have been to so far. Hum, bourbon coffee.......
Back to the ghosts.
I went back to Buffalo Trace Distillery for their ghost tour. It didn't start until 8:15 at night, well actually, it was still daylight out but my group was tired but ready to do this mainly for the booze at the end. The tour started out with a short bus trip to the stone mansion. I took a picture of that mansion but when I downloaded my pictures, it's gone. I don't remember deleting it,
Hum.....The stories told by the guide were very interesting but one happen to me: the batteries in my camera depleted after the visit to the stone house. Seriously, I had fully charged batteries in my camera, had only taken three pictures, and when I went to take this picture:
The low battery light came on. Who and why did I take this picture? Because this is suppose to be the guy that haunts the stone house. I tried to get a better picture three times and this was the best of the three.
Then I tried to take a picture of the buffalo carved out of a tree stump:
Still crappy. Neat thing about this sculpture, the guide said that every year a sapling will grow out from it.
Now here is the weird part of my story. This picture was taken after the previous pictures:
Note the clarity of it compared to the other two. Same settings on the camera, same twighlight lighting, but this one is so much clearer (Oh and this is a REALLY old house, built in the 1700's, a ghost of a girl has been seen in the top windows).
And to show how weird this is:
I took this picture in Warehouse C where the lighting was horrible. Why take a picture of this barrel? Love the experimental sticker. I know weird......
I now have three distilleries down and five more to go before I earn my t-shirt.
Seriously, I visit the eight distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, get my passport stamped at each one, mail in my completed passport and I get a free t-shirt. Well free except for the cost of going to all the different distilleries...........
I would have been too creeped out for the tour. And having the batteries crap out would have sent me screaming-literally!
ReplyDeleteWhat was weirder was the fact that after I downloaded these pictures AND wrote this blog post, I plugged in my camera only to find that the battery was full.
DeleteSpooky indeed!
I'm creeped out!!!!!!!!
DeleteWell at least it wasn't the butt pinch that the tour guide told us about. He said in the Warehouse C (where the picture of the barrel was taken) people have reported having the feeling of being pinched on the butt. Now THAT would creep me out!!!!
DeleteI think the ghosts were messing with you! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh Cora do you think so? The tour guide did say it would happen and I was VERY skeptical about it but.......
DeleteYOu know that is kind of creepy..... it really is. I once took a photo at the Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire, supposed to be hard for some people to take photos of as they have "magnetism" or something (??) Well my picture came out with the sky dark green. It was the oddest thing.
ReplyDeleteLet us know if your camera battery plays up elsewhere though, otherwise I'll have a sleepness night (only kidding.. but...hmmm....) :D
Jenny I'm sure there is a scientific reason for this.In fact I asked my son who teaches science. His response (with a hint of laughter) was aliens ;o) Of course he went into a bunch of other stuff that quite honestly, I have no idea what he was saying.......
DeleteCreepy! Around these parts, people do tours of wineries. I've never heard of anyone doing the passport thing with a free tee at the end. Seems like you should get a free box of little bourbon samplers! *hic*
ReplyDeleteOH but I do get little samples of bourbon at each distillery. Yep, at the end of each tour, they have a sampling of what they have to sell in the gift shop. Usually though, you can only try four of what they have (something about liquor laws), which is the hardest part; picking which four you want to sample ;o)
